The Gran Fondo Esteban Chaves donation campaign will continue in 2021
Due to the rescheduling of most surgeries in 2020 by the pandemic we decided to postpone our annual donation campaign where we collect funds to support children with orthopedic problems.
At FUN Chaves we value the trust that you have placed in us during these years, believing in us to funnel resources and impact the life of our children and teenagers in Colombia. A task that we know requires all our commitment and transparency. Every time a person contributes to our foundation, we want them to be certain that their help is used to transform lives.
2020 has surprised us all and affected us in one way or another. In the case of the health area of our foundation, through the most important program Gran Fondo Esteban Chaves -annual donation campaign where we collect funds that are destined to the treatment of children and adolescents with orthopedic problems-, Most of the surgeries we had scheduled have been delayed due to the health emergency in the medical sector. We have implemented this program in partnership with the Cardioinfantil Foundation.
Carolina Rubio is the Director of Health at FUN. «The delayed of the surgeries and the follow-up appointments have meant that several children who were going to be operated on, have not gone through the operating room. We understand the global situation, and this is the best decision. We will keep working with conviction and hope to continue multiplying smiles as a team with you, » she said. This year they managed to operate Johanny Borray (reconstruction of lower limbs due to spastic cerebral palsy) and polished Jeronimo (polydactyly). While waiting are Junior Rincón and Britney, Yuneth Castañeda, among oters. Both will be operated on their legs for paralysis.

About our program
The Gran Fondo Esteban Chaves donation campaign has been organized since 2018. In these two years we have operated 34 children from more than 7 different states, due the generous contribution of 2,285 people around the world. Some of the procedures we performed are: club-foot, hip dysplasia, lower and upper limbs due to cerebral palsy, among other conditions. These interventions change their lives and give them back autonomy and independence in their mobility, eliminating barriers of discrimination and marginality and promoting social inclusion. Their dreams of playing, writing or even walking come true. It’s not a cycling race, but a race for life.
